 ABOUT ME

Hi! Thank you so much for being here, I am so excited to be starting this blog!

I’m a mid-twenties, wanna-be granola girl from Southwestern Ontario and I work as a civil engineer by day. The theme of this space will generally be focused on my imperfect sustainability journey, including tips on how to be kinder to our home, insights, thoughts and stories I’m inclined to share, and things along the way that bring me joy and inspiration. I also want to use this space to talk about my love for DIYs, the outdoors, and more specifically, camping! Think: easy camping meals, tote bag sewing patterns, how to tastefully gift thrifted items, and the good and bad from various parks and nature spots I visit.

In elementary school I wrote a speech about why plastic water bottles are bad, and in high school I served as the eco team president. I think this goes to show that sustainability has always been a passion of mine. I have no doubt that this passion stems from my dad. My dad, who meticulously recycles everything, including every clothing tag and envelope (after carefully removing the plastic windows). My dad, who would pull a pop can out of the garbage to put it in its rightful place in the recycle bin, even if it meant getting teased at work. My dad, who is not an electrician but will take the time to take an old electronic apart to try and mend it before deeming it garbage and throwing it away. This is all inspiring, but the biggest takeaway for me has been that my dad is not naive enough to think that his coworker will never again throw cans in the garbage, or that everything he takes the time to recycle ends up actually being recycled at the facility. Regardless of these facts, my dad continues to put in the effort, and instilled in me the importance of putting in the effort, because the chance that you are actually doing some good is worth it. His compassion and thoughtfulness has always been inspiring.

Some more facts about me: I’m famously a terrible speller, I stress about things out of my control, I love board games and euchre, and my bedroom is an absolute jungle because I can’t stop buying house plants. My goal is to curate a space where I can share my thoughts and knowledge on all things outdoorsy and sustainable, how I find hope and motivation, and most importantly, a space where I can share what brings me joy for the days you and I both could use it.

I am so excited to have this outlet. I feel like I have so much to say, and sharing it on this platform will not only be cathartic for me, but hopefully inspire some people along the way.

Talk soon!
